Every company is being told to move faster with AI. Almost none are told the truth: agents amplify whatever operation you already have — including the broken parts. Ironbrant helps you fix the operation first, then build the systems that think ahead.
01 · Diagnose
Org charts lie. Process docs lie harder. We map the real operation — the workarounds, the tribal knowledge, the spreadsheet holding it all together — before touching a single tool.
02 · Design
Automation where the work is rote. Agents where the work is judgment-shaped but repeatable. People where it counts. The boundary between those three is the whole job.
03 · Deploy
A system nobody uses is a demo. We ship with the teams who'll live in it, measure what changed, and stay until the new way is just the way.
What we do
01
Two to three weeks inside your operation. You get a plain-language map of where capacity leaks, what to automate, what to leave alone, and the order to do it in. Fixed fee, no dependencies created.
02
Design and build of AI-assisted workflows that survive contact with real staff and real edge cases — knowledge systems, service operations, decision support. Built to be owned by your team, not rented from us.
03
M&A integrations, platform migrations, org redesigns. The moments where operations either compound or crack. We've run these at scale and carry the scar tissue so you don't have to earn it.
04
A senior operator in the room for the season you need one — building the team, the cadence, and the systems, then handing you the keys.
How we work
Stage 01
Short, fixed-fee, and honest. If the answer is "you don't need us," that's the report. Roughly a third of assessments end exactly there — which is why the other two-thirds trust what comes next.
2–3 weeks · fixed feeStage 02
A scoped engagement against the assessment's plan — systems built, workflows shipped, teams trained. Success is measured in your metrics, and the exit is designed in from day one.
Scoped · outcome-pricedThe name
A brant is a small, unglamorous goose that breeds in the high Arctic and flies storm coasts every year to get home — no drama, no missed years. For centuries nobody could find its nests, so Europeans decided the birds must hatch from barnacles. It persisted anyway.
That's the standard here: iron discipline in the work, and the refusal to take ourselves too seriously while doing it. The companies that get through interesting times tend to run on both.
"In 390 BC the watchdogs slept through the raid. The geese didn't. Rome kept the geese."
Why we keep one on the letterhead
About
Ironbrant is Clay Clark and Will Medley — equal partners who spent years running the operation before advising on anyone else's.
Clay Clark — fourteen years leading operations in online higher education, through five corporate iterations, two major M&A integrations, and the merger that formed the largest OPM in the country. A 150-person organization supporting 825,000+ students across 125+ universities. $3.3MM in annualized cost reduction. Teams that became their company's heaviest AI users because the systems were built around the work, not the other way around. More at claytonmilesclark.com — including the recipes.
Will Medley, PMP — business operations leader in data strategy and process optimization at scale, most recently directing process optimization for one of the largest companies in online higher education. PMP-certified, AI-business-strategy trained, and constitutionally incapable of leaving a broken workflow alone. His standing warning: if your workflow looks at him funny, he will try to automate it.
The consultancy exists because most companies don't need a bigger platform or a louder AI strategy. They need people who have run the operation, know what breaks, and can build the version that doesn't.
